version 6.8.4.2 Release Notes

What's new in the Ferret v6.842 Release

This is a bug-fix release, with three short items. This version of Ferret is required for the official LAS V8 release.

Bug fixes:

1) Ferret v6.842 is linked with a version of NetCDF 4.2.1.1 which contains a bug fix. A spurious error message,

syntax error, unexpected WORD_STRING

followed by multiple lines of text, was issued when initializing some OPeNDAP datasets including data served by the IRI/LDEO Climate Data Library.

2) If a very large number of DEFINE SYMBOL statements are issued, Ferret stopped making new definitions, but did not issue a message. This is fixed. There is a new limit of 5000 DEFINE SYMBOL symbols, and Ferret will return an error if this limit is exceeded.

3) If SET MODE METAFILE command is in effect, Ferret v6.84 crashed when making RIBBON plots. This is fixed.
