Text Size in Viewports

Ferreteers,

Is there any way to access the 'text' size associated with a viewport so
that it can be assigned to a local variable.

I.e. something like

let vptextsize = ($vp$text)

At present I can find out what the text size is using (sh view) but can't
assign it. Help appreciated in advance,
