Hi Yangxing,
This is a limit that is hard-coded into Ferret. If your coordinates are not evenly-spaced and there are more than 250000 of them, you will run into this error. Please see this FAQ, which explains what is happening and suggests some ways of handling this. I have just updated that FAQ for a better way to change your file.
